As we all know, nowadays due to heavy rainfall many big incidents are happening. Because of floods no one is safe. A similar case happened in Khatoli village of Panchkula.
Bridge Collapse in Panchkula. The bridge built over the Tangri river due to continuous heavy rainfall the bridge collapsed. The villagers used to cross daily from this bridge. It was the only way for the people of the village to go out and come inside.
How did bridge collapse in Panchkula?
In many states of India, due to rainfall, floods and cloudbursts are taking place. One of them is Haryana. In Haryana and its nearby areas, because of heavy rainfall, the water of the Tangri river went above the limit, and because of this the bridge built over it collapsed.
No harm to anyone’s life
Officials said that no one was there on the bridge when the incident happened. After hearing this, people felt relieved that no one’s life was lost. If anyone had been on the bridge at that time, it would have been a big problem, but nothing like that happened.
Reaction of local people
As mentioned earlier, this bridge was the daily route for the villagers. Through this road, people used to come from the village to the city and from outside to the village.
Farmers used this bridge to transport their crops.
Children went to school and college.
Women used to go to the market.
But after this incident the villagers are very worried because transportation has been badly affected.
Children are not able to go to schools and colleges. Shopkeepers are not able to go outside to bring goods. Because of the collapse of the bridge, villagers are facing many problems and losses.
Government reaction
After the collapse, the district administration immediately sealed the area so that no one could go there. PWD asked for the maintenance report of the bridge. They want to see what was the real reason for the collapse. Was the bridge really broken due to heavy rainfall or due to poor maintenance?
The villagers were assured that the work of rebuilding the bridge will be started very soon.
Every year because of heavy rainfall, we hear about bridges and roads collapsing. A question is: if this happens every year, shouldn’t the government take care of this and provide such security measures so that even if rains come, no one suffers loss?
We always hear that because of heavy rains and floods many people lose their lives and many damages happen. So isn’t it the duty of the government to prepare for this in advance? To ensure timely maintenance, to make people aware, and to build strong infrastructure?
Anger in villagers after bridge collapse
After this disaster, the villagers are scared as well as angry. Some said that cracks were already appearing on the bridge but no attention was given. If they had taken care earlier, this accident would not have happened today.
Others are demanding that the bridge should be rebuilt as soon as possible. This bridge is the main route for the people of the village, and without it they will face many difficulties in their daily lives.
