In Delhi, news related to rape and harassment keeps coming every day. One such news has come from Delhi University (DU). A DU student has accused her professor of molestation. The girl shared her pain with the world through social media.

The student said that her professor and Head of Department harassed her, mentally tortured her, and misused their power. The student shared a video on Instagram explaining how her professor tried to force himself on her.

When this matter went viral on social media, the professor started mentally torturing the student even more and began putting pressure on her studies. Along with this, he started blackmailing the girl, saying that if she did not delete the video, he would fail her in exams.

Allegations Made by the DU Student

The student made several allegations against that man and posted everything on social media.

Mental harassment – The student said that after uploading the video, she was mentally tortured a lot, not only by that professor but also by other DU staff who tried to suppress her. The student said she started getting humiliated everywhere and was ignored by all teachers during academic interactions.
Academics-related threats – She said she started receiving threats from DU that her admit card, exams, and academic future would be destroyed and that she would not get admission anywhere. The student said that along with DU professors, they took fake statements from some students in exchange for marks, saying that it was her fault. The professor misused his position and told her not to tell anyone about this.
Torturing her to delete the video – After the student uploaded the video on social media and it went viral, she was asked to delete it. She said she started getting blackmailed and began feeling very unsafe. She was threatened that if she did not delete the video, something very wrong could also happen to her.

Another Video of the Student

After uploading the first video in which the DU student accused the professor of harassment, the student uploaded another video. In this video, she said that after the video went viral, a lot of pressure was being put on her to delete it.

The student said she was called to the office, where the DU dean and senior professors asked her to compromise. DU professors told the student to go to that man’s room and clear the matter.

And not just once, she was repeatedly asked to go to that professor’s room. Along with this, she was told that if she refused, she would be expelled from DU and failed.

But the student showed courage and did not agree to anything they said and clearly refused. After leaving from there, the student uploaded another video again explaining the incident.

Reaction of Social Media

As soon as the DU harassment video went viral, people’s anger was clearly seen. People abused the DU professor heavily in the comments. Today, on all social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, this student’s video is everywhere, and people’s anger is exploding.

Many questions are coming into people’s minds, especially girls’ minds. When will girls be free from all this? When will they be able to live openly? Everywhere there are such people who look at girls with dirty intentions, misbehave with them, and the government just sits and watches like a spectator.

People did not take this lightly and are demanding action. The power of social media is very big. Everyone is supporting the student and protesting against that professor.

At the same time, some students from the ABVP group appealed for a fair inquiry. They said that we should listen to the point of view of both the student and the professor. First, this case should be investigated, and before that, no one should be judged.

Response of DU

When this issue started getting a lot of attention, Delhi University released its official response.

They said they would form a three-member committee.
They assured that there would be a fair discussion and fair investigation.
During the inquiry period, the student would get academic protection.

As of now, no FIR has been filed. No final report has come out, and the inquiry is still in process.

Where is our government that says it will protect our daughters? No place is safe for girls.
