In the first phase, the airport will have a capacity of 20 million passengers per year.

Its Construction

When will the airport start flights?
The first phase of the Navi Mumbai Airport has been inaugurated, but the full work has not yet been completed. Commercial flights are expected to start by mid-2026.
Right now, many checks, safety approvals, and testing processes are still pending. Once all these works are completed, the airport will start operating and flights will begin to take off.
Vision behind the infrastructure
PM Modi’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision includes better transport systems and digital connectivity. Under this vision, many more airports are being planned across India.
The Jewar Airport in Noida has already been built, and along with that, there are also plans to develop new airports in Goa and Ayodhya.
