Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are once again in the headlines and controversy of the 60 crore Rs. scam. Raj Kundra has already faced many cases in the past, and this time he is accused of a huge fraud. Not a small one, but a scam worth ₹60 crore. yes, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra scamed 60 crore.
How it Started?
A Mumbai businessman named Deepak Kothari has filed a cheating case against Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty. Deepak Kothari is the director of Lotus Capital Finance. He said that he has known them since 2015.
In 2015, Deepak Kothari invested ₹60 crore in Shilpa and Raj’s company, hoping that their business would grow. But instead of growing, the money was lost.
He also claimed that Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty used his money for their personal expenses. On 14 August 2025, Kothari filed an FIR against the couple.
Money Transfer by Kothari
At first, Deepak Kothari offered them a loan of ₹75 crore at 12% interest. But later, they convinced him to go for equity investment instead.
In April 2015, he transferred ₹32 crore.
In September 2015, he transferred another ₹29 crore.
Till today, he has not received any returns. Just a few months after the agreement, Shilpa resigned as director from the company.
FIR Filed
Deepak Kothari filed the FIR against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra at Juhu Police Station. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) also took strict action and issued an order that the couple cannot leave the country until the investigation is completed.
Raj Kundra was supposed to appear before the EOW on 10 September 2025, but now he will go on 15 September 2025.
Bastian Closure
Shilpa Shetty had opened a famous restaurant in Mumbai named Bastian. After the fraud case started against her, she announced the closure of Bastian.
She did not officially say that the closure was due to this case, but many people believe the fraud controversy is the main reason behind it.
Raj Kundra’s Past Case
A few years ago, Raj Kundra was also accused of making illegal films. He even faced punishment for that. And now, he and Shilpa Shetty are accused of a ₹60 crore fraud.
